LOCAL TIME:
The overhead position of the Sun
will be taken as 12 noon is known as local time to that longitude.
è If we take the local time
for calculated time of any Country there aroused various number of problems in
each Country.
è In order to overcome the
problems aroused due to that Scientist designed a new concept known as Standard
time at New York conference in 1883.
STANDARD TIME:
It is that time of any country
they erased various number of problems in each country.
è Indian
standard time measured with the help of 82 ½0 E
longitude. It is passing through 5 Indian states and 1 administrative unit of
Pondicherry Union is such as
(a)
Andhra Pradesh (Kakinada)
(b) Orissa (Karafuto)
(c) Chhattisgarh (Raipur)
(d)
M.P (Rewa and Jabalpur)
(e) U.P (Allahabad, Varanasi, Mirzapur)
(f) Pondicherry (Yanam)
è The other 2
Countries which are also taking the 82 ½0 E longitude as
their Standard Meridian are 1. SRILANKA 2. NEPAL.
è The country
which is having highest number of standard times is Russia i.e.
9 (before it was 11). After Russia 2. U.S.A-6 3.
CANADA-5 4. AUSTRALIA-3.
è Indian
standard time 5 ½ hrs a head to the Green witch local
time.
è International standard time is calculated with the help of Green
witch longitude as such the local time of 00 longitude is
called as International Standard Time / Green witch mean time.
è 1800 longitude
is also called as International Date Line.
è Earth takes
24 hrs to make 1 rotation i.e. to complete 3600 longitudinal
distance.
è It takes 4
min to cross the 1 longitude as per this Earth is divided into 24 time zones
each zone having the variations of 1 hr time.
è Any person
moving towards East from the local time has to be added to the local time
whatever he has to taken and also when a person moving towards the West from
any local time he has to subtract whatever time he has taken from the local
time.
INTERNATIONAL DATELINE: 1800 LONGITUDE
PROBLEM: A person started moving from 00 longitudes
on Sunday evening 6’o clock towards east and wants to reach 1800 E
longitude then what is the time he has to require and what is the day he will
be reached to that place? Simultaneously other person started towards west from
00 then what is the time he has to require to reach 1800 W
longitude and what is the day he will be reached to that place?
Sol: I.
(a) We have to travel 1800 E
(longitudinal distance)
(b) 10
=> 4 mins
1800 =>
?
180x4 = 720 = 12 hrs
(c) Direction
is towards east.
(d) As
distance travelling towards east, we have to add the time difference to the
local time.
=> Sunday 6 p.m + 12 hrs
=> Monday 6 a.m
II. (a) We have to travel
1800 W
(b) 180x4
= 12 hrs
(c) Towards
west
(d) As direction is west, we
have to subtract
=> Sunday 6 p.m – 12 hrs
=> Sunday 6 a.m
(a) International dateline passing through pacific
ocean by crossing the Baren street, Aleution Islands, Fiji Islands, Kiribati
Islands, Tonga Islands.
(b) International dateline is not the ---1800 exactly
but it is a jig-saw / curved line running along with the 1800. It is
virtually to be called as International dateline.
PROBLEM:
I. It is morning 6’0 clock in England then what is the
time in India?
Sol: 1. 82 ½0
2. 10 =>
4 min
82 ½0 =>?
82.5x4 = 5 ½ hrs
3. Added
to 6 + 5 ½ = 11:30 a.m
II. If there is the time evening 4’o clock on 1000 E
longitudes which is passing through TOKYO then what is the time in JAMICA
located on 100 W longitudes?
Sol: 110x4 = 7 hrs 20 min
West 16:00 - 7:20 = 8:40 mins
III. P.M Manmohan Singh gave his speech on agreement 123
in New York at 8 a.m, the people of India receive that speech at evening 4 p.m
on doordarshan on direct relay then what is the longitudinal distance between
New York and India.
Sol : New
York
India
8
a.m
4 p.m
8 hrs 82 ½0 E
longitude
10 => 4
mins
? => 8x60
ð (8x60)/4 = 1200 W longitude
